Prius

April weather is more like March especially today with the wind blowing over 40 km/hour. But this has cheered me up considerably.  Spent more than I wanted to but I'm not getting any younger so why the hell not.

2010 Prius, something I've wanted ever since they've been available.  15 years of waiting.

April 7, Last Beach Day of this Season

Yesterday was my last day on the beach for this winter.

I'm sure the hermit crabs will rejoice in my absence. I did not harass a single one yesterday, this is from the other day.  I think he's smiling, maybe not.

Pelican was much closer than it appears in the video.

I will miss this.

To the Yacht Club - A Successful Voyage

We moved Ramblynn to the Hawksbill Yacht Club yesterday where she will spend the summer.

Just to make sure we had enough water in the canal (Roller-Blade Richard says it's shallow) Gerry measured it the day before. I took pictures of the seagulls, and rays (didn't turn out) and waited patiently for him to find a deep hole and fall in (he didn't).
Official measuring pole - boat hook.

We left at 13:15 on a rising tide; half hour later we passed the channel markers, and with Gerry navigating we were into the canal at 4.

I'm not sure if this was really a good idea - I was at the helm and Gerry was the spotter; we all know how good his eyes are. There were a few tense moments when Lowrance proclaimed there was less than 6' and relief when we reached 20' a short time later.

We dawdled along at 2 knots while Gerry got the lines ready and were at the dock at 4:15 (entire trip 1 hour and nothing broke). I've mentioned the times because we took the dinghy back and it only took 15 minutes.

We'll have to go back and remove those fenders, etc. and put more lines on for hurricane season.

Sure looks small against that powerboat.

Misc things from last week of March

JEEP

A while back we fixed some holes in the back of the jeep using pieces of metal but more have grown since then. The solution this time is fiberglass. A messy job but since the holes are everywhere, including the front, right under the driver's feet, it was thought to be the best solution. I have no desire to drive a vehicle like Fred Flintstone - my feet get wet when I'm driving in the rain.

The worst hole in the back is right beside where the seat belt is fastened - a definite problem.

Now isn't that beautiful?

VISITORS

This beautiful ship took Ramblynn's dock for a few days - we thought they'd stay longer (great people) but they were on their way to Georgia, to berth their boat, then home to Ontario.

Jamie, Dirk, Randy, Marion, Beth

Photo wasn't taken here, Dirk sent it.

Also from Dirk - the Jeep's defrost - a hairdryer.

Yes, Gerry can clean and fillet a fish. He hung this over the side of the boat for the fish to nibble on, someone stole it in the night.

Things found on the beach:

Beach shoes
The pair in the centre are mine, no one has taken them (I don't want them), but someone took a child's shoe from the collection.

Also found on the beach, really big onion, really tasty.

GHOST SHIP

This boat has appeared in the bay around this time for the past few years. I have yet to see it arrive, or leave, nor have I ever seen any people on board. One minute it's not there, then it is, then a day or 2 later it's gone.  The pictures make it look better than it is, the hull is very ugly.
