August 24, 2013, Steve and Anita

Anita and Steve have moved their Sirius to Port Rowan (Lake Erie) and invited us down for the day. There are very few sailboats in the inner bay because of the shallow draft, we only saw 2 or 3 others. Very nice marina, not crowded. They are the only sail boaters but the power boaters are very friendly. We set out for Pottohawk and of course the wind was against us. We finally made it, and I actually went in the water despite my Bahamatized (Anita's word) blood. Didn't last - too cold,  not salty nor sandy, what's with that? We (Steve) BBQ'd, watched the sun go down and just as we hauled anchor we were inundated - yes inundated, deluged, overrun,  engulfed, bombarded, beseiged by a million bugs. Steve's sweater was almost immediately encased in these tiny nonbiting things and Gerry had to clean them off his glasses a few times. Anita and I beat a hasty retreat down below. Was well after dark when we returned but it was a fun outing, well worth the bugs. We'll be back and hopefully remember to take more photos of the area!

We have beautiful sunsets in Ontario too.

August 23, 2013 - Boat Show

Another sailing season is almost over. Despite the Sirius being faster than the Matilda we didn't win any races. We crossed the finish line in 2nd place in one of them but our handicap precluded winning. We missed the last race, maybe we would have won? Ha.

Attended the in-water boat show in Port Credit, and the boys were majorly disappointed that the junk man was not there. They still managed to find a few treasurers in the other tents, as did Chris, and I found a hat.

There are a lot of sailboats you can climb in and out of as well as powerboats. Loved this boat despite it not having a mast but it was a bit too expensive to take home.

August 2013

My lot at Wildwood gets all the rain runoff from half the park (or see it seems) and parking is an issue. Gerry has put patio stones in so we can park one set of tires on them and the other on the road.

We love rhubarb so much I've planted some and asparagus for Gerry, hope it doesn't get washed away in the spring flood.

Kayaking at Wildwood

We sailed up to the bridge at Wildwood and put the kayaks in. Chris and I went under the bridge to see what was on the other side while Les and Gerry waited patiently at anchor for our return.

Rather disappointing, St. Marys is more picturesque.

It's handy having this lot right by the water, can bring the sailboat in.
