Junior Junkanoo January 15, 2010

The primary schools have their own Junkanoo - the large competitive one (adults) takes place around New Years so we missed it. Unfortunately the schools were spaced so far apart that we just saw a few of them, can only stand around for so long. As you can see in the video it takes a long time to get down the parade route when you stay in one spot.

Back in the Bahamas, brrrrr

Been back in the Bahamas for 5 days of damn chilly weather but at least the sun was shining. Ah well, better than snow.








Today (January 9) was 14 and raining. We braved the wonderful weather to watch the medal race of the World Championship 49er race. Was hard to tell who was winning, they seemed to just sail around in circles. I felt sorry for them, they must have been freezing despite the wetsuits.
Update: Spain won and they appeared to be going in circles because they were going in circles!





And when will we be able to obey the sign (xmas gift from Richard and Leslie)?

Olympic Torch

December 27 the Olympic Torch (carried by Julia Wilkenson) went right past the window and up onto the stage. Best seat in the house.

The market square behind city hall was jam packed for the arrival of the torch........










but by the time the speeches and entertainment were done this was all that was left to watch the torch leave the stage, carried by students from Central High School.

Ontario in December

Where the hell is the sun? I don't think we've seen it in over a week.

Cold, but I guess not cold enough to freeze this little creek at Wildwood. Ventured out to check the trailer and the boat, armed with coffee. Smiling because I'm thinking how much fun this summer will be!

Travelling North

Spent a few days in Hollywood FL. Who knew that pelicans fly in formation?








Missy and I on the beach at a "Full Moon" event. The evening started out cloudy and rainy, yes we got wet. The determined ones (or insane) stayed long enough to enjoy the drumming and dancing and the stars that finally came out.
