I hear the train a comin', it's rollin' round the bend....

Took the train to Toronto to see Caribanna. Much like Junkanoo in the Bahamas except a million more people.

Road Trip to St Louis

The famous St. Louis Arch - gateway to the West.

Elevator car - much like riding in a large clothes dryer.

Free beer at Grant's farm - free admission too, but costs $11 to park your car.

Matilda

Gerry bought another boat - a Matilda (kind of boat not her name) and I took this tranquil photo days after a lot of work and frustration. Was worth it, she's a lovely boat - so lovely I'd like to buy her and finally own a boat of my own, small though she is. She is for sale but apparently not to me.

While towing the Matilda to the car wash a tire blew. It's not much fun changing a tire on a busy busy highway.

I spent hours spit and polishing woodwork.

Putting up the mast was made easier with help.

I took it upon myself to install the boom and here I'm trying to make a too large pin fit a too small hole to keep the main sail from falling out of the mast. Determination won out - "told you so Gerry."

Our nemesis - Les. His boat is faster and he has a bigger water gun arsenal.

Chris, such a lovely person, with a high tolerance for villains.

This is Doug trying to touch the buoy as we go past - a tradition if you make it all the way down to the bridge. Some may say it's his best side - but not me of course.

Back to Saskatoon for a Quickie

Made the trek back west for a quick visit with Sally, Abby and Sam. The weather, of course, was insane - 18 one day 28 the next. As usual I brought the bad weather with me - raining when I arrived, sunny when I left. Nonetheless had a great time with the "kids."

Arriving = bad weather.

Sam, Sally, Abby

Slavka and Sally "volunteered" me to dance at the Wakaw farmers market - solo - not in a big hurry to do that again!

Note, I'm leaving = better weather.

Back to Wildwood

Tis the season for sailing on Wildwood Lake.

Took the boat to the car wash and then put the mast up before launching.

Sailed through the 5 foot 4 inch grass (tall as me) Would you believe I jumped in to measure it?.

Were unfairly attacked by Les who was armed with a water gun. Revenge will be sweet.

To get more speed going downwind we set up 2 jib sails - worked great but was a real pain when tacking.

Not to be outdown by Les and Chris's bumpers on the dock we made these using vinyl and pool noodles. I assure you these are for protecting the boat from being bashed into the dock during rough weather not to protect the boat and dock from my docking skills!
